Thoughts Regarding Prayer

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead  quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty" (2 Timothy 2:1-2).
Giving of thanks - thanking the Lord throughout the day for His blessings and for who He is (John 6:11).
Prayers - praying in general: in the car, at dinner, wherever we go, etc. (Luke 10:21).
Supplications - different kind of prayer - between general prayers and long enduring intercession. Supplications are necessary when we are overcome with a desire of great need that is created in us for our LORD to do a work that we cannot do but, perhaps, without the agony of intercession or the time required for intercession (Luke 22:32).
Intercession - time/hour(s) of supplications and prayers for whatever longing He has put into our hearts. Here we learn to stand in the gap for others and to pray without ceasing (Acts 12:5). No one can be an intercessor who has not been touched with a longing from God Himself (Romans 8:26; Luke 6:12).
